Hintertux Glacier (1 hour 15 mins)

Skiing in summer? You can do this at the Hintertux Glacier, located 3,250m above sea level. You can also go there on guided toursto explore the permanent ice or the largest cave in Tyrol – the Spannagel cave..

Alpenzoo Innsbruck (45 mins)

See mountain goats and grouse, wolves and bison. Housed in near-natural enclosures, terrariums and aquariums and a demonstration farm, you can get to know the wildlife of the Alps. Among the roughly 150 different animal species at the Alpine Zoo are some protected and endangered species such as the bearded vulture – the largest bird in the Alps. Of course there are also the crowd pleasers such as the brown bear and the otter!

Achenseebahn (28 mins)

A must for all railway fans is the 45 minute trip with the Achenseebahn. Steaming, chugging and hissing along between May and October, the oldest rack and pinion locomotive in the world heads up the 16% gradient from Jenbach to Achensee – the largest mountain lake in Tyrol. It's been working reliably since 1889!

Zillertal Alpine Dairy (50 mins)

In the first exhibition dairy in Tyrol you can follow the route from cow to cheese. You can sample the delicious results in the dairy's kitchen and you can take a slice of Zillertal home with you from the farm shop!

Zeiss Planetarium & Schwaz Silver Mine (28 mins)

Want to look at the stars or descend the inside of a mountain? In Schwaz you can do both!

With a trip on the mine railway you will experience how the miners lived and worked, 800m inside the mountain. A healthy side effect is that the air in the tunnels of the biggest silver mine of the middle ages is absolutely pollen free and good for the airways.

Swarovski Crystal World (35 mins)

A visit to the Swarovski Crystal world is a magical experience for old and young. With their works of art, creations and chambers of wonder André Heller and the other artists have created a dreamworld out of lights and colours. It is definitely worth a visit!
